Our Mission

We are devoted to making everlasting wonderful experiences for our students and customers with well structured, effective and fun Spanish classes as well as reliable and impeccable translation and interpreting services.

Our History

The Spanish Language Center (SpanishLC) was founded in December 2001 by Juan Guillermo Cortez. Under Mr. Cortez's direction, our school has expanded from its original first location in Lakeview (current headquarters) into two additional facilities. A second location was established in the downtown area in June of 2004 and our third one in Palatine in November of 2005. We are currently establishing a fourth location in the Lincoln Park area.

SpanishLC is a private school, approved as a provider of continuing education by the Illinois State Board of Education, and solely relies on the tuition of our students.

Our constant growth is greatly due to our professional and serious approach to teaching Spanish. We are  pleased to maintain a very high percentage of student re-enrolment and we are proud to know that we set the bar in the Spanish teaching market  by shaping the  standards to be followed.

Utilizing the same dedication and professionalism that characterizes our Spanish classes, we also offer translation and interpreting services. We have a team of professionals who will accurately translate any type of document within any  desired time frame at very competitive rates. Our professional interpreters can also travel on site to almost any location within the Chicagoland area to provide interpreting services (oral translation) from Spanish to English or vice versa.

Our Staff

The staff at the Spanish Language Center consists of bilingual, professional, Spanish-speaking instructors, translators and interpreters. All are highly experienced with a solid, professional background in their respective fields.

Our staff is composed of unique individuals stemming from many different backgrounds such as Mexico , Peru , Ecuador , Argentina , Guatemala , Colombia , Puerto Rico , El Salvador , Bolivia , Chile , Panama , Costa Rica , Spain and other Spanish speaking countries.

All our teachers are passionate about their teaching jobs and take their educational task very seriously.

Job Opportunities

If you are passionate about teaching Spanish, we want to have you as part of our team. We are extremely selective with our instructors and require that all candidates be: 1) bilingual with native-speaker-like Spanish fluency, 2) very knowledgeable with the Spanish grammar, and 3) experienced.

All candidates will be assessed on their grammar knowledge and teaching skills, and then will have to undergo extensive training.
